Thanks, I have the peterson tuning software application on my laptop. The software includes a tap tuning function stretching the tap out to a measurable length of time. I will make sure the plates are not in tune. I may leave the back braces a little taller.

Remember the top drops a semi-tone (so 'they' say) with the addition of the mass from the bridge. Of course I'm just repeating what I've read... do with it what you will.

Ahhh...so perhaps tuning the plates to the same note, and then adding the bridge would be the perfect solution!!
Or not. I dont think my skills are to the point that I need to worry about tuning the plates the same. It wouldnt even happen by accident to me. What I do is, I try to do something, and then fail. So if I tried to tune them the same, I would fail, and there would be no issue!!

I got a bit of work done today on the guitar. I used my Christmas joiner plane to true up the face of neck and move the nut position up the neck to where I want it. The 15 degree angle is breaking right at the nut poistion.

I setup my router table with a ½ inch straight router bit to route for the truss rod and 2 carbon fiber rods. I would have epoxied the rods in but I bought ½ inch rods instead of 3/8th. One more LMI box coming my way.

I then joined the plates again using my Christmas joiner. I got close with the plane but I need to do a few strokes on 120 grit sand paper that I have on a tempered plate of glass. I was too lazy to make a shooting board so I sort of turned my bench into one. Ultimately I think I will run a board along the bench to help me hold the joiner true.

In any case I had no problem gluing the plates together with my quick jig. I profiled both the top and the back and thicknessed the back on my new drum sander. The spanish cedar back felt more like a top when I got close to thickness. I will up the height of the braces a bit.

I agree with what Rick states. I try to get the 2 plates at least a 1/2 tone separate

Thank Kevin, I have decided on Ebony, it is funny you asked as I went back and forth between EIR and Ebony. Also mainly because I want to try it I am going to try the narrow zipflex purflings. I am stuck on a rosette design. I am leaning toward a wood ring with zipflex on the inside and outside. The zipflex has a very narrow black edge which may look good without additional purfling strips for the rosette.
