Style 45 a body

Post by SharpsShooter »

It would seem logical to put the rosette in before bracing the top. However if you decide to fancy up the body with all that inlay, specifically the soundhole rosette and the fingerboard perimiter inlay that cuts into the rosette, would it be feasible to mark, cut, and install inlay after top is on and neck and fingerboard set up? The rosette is cut but not installed untill figerboard perimiter goes in.

Also where are the archived posts located?

Thanks,
Brian.

If you are planning a 45 top you do the rosette first , then once you have the body build and have the neck set but not glued on ,you now know where the fretboard extension is going and can do that part of the inlay.
Be sure to check the necks center line to the neck blocks center line. Don't rely that those two center lines are automatic . If you find the neck block center line is off , use the neck center line so your neck is squared and centered. Checking this now beats fighting with it later.
