Be way to do this?

Post by deadedith »

I want to bind with two very thin bindings - one of curly maple, inside of that black fiber. No purflings.
Should I laminate the two first, perhaps with titebond? Or glue on one at a time?
Thanks

Dave,
You will probably get a better glue up by laminating them first. I just put a .020" fiber spacer behind my bloodwood binding, applying glue as I taped, and it was not the easiest thing to do, getting a uniform spread of glue on the entire surface, although it is doable.

I like to have as much flex in the materials as possible when pulling them tight into the channel so my "preference" is not to laminate. Using slow set glue or the CA installation method works well when you are dealing with several layers at once. $.02
