this has been done for a while but this is not the same process as torrification. I use a heat blanket and I have to agree the process is most beneficial just before you glue on the braces.

I wonder would you still hold the temp. to 200*with the blanket and how long would it have to heat ?

I take them to about 220 to 250 for 30 min to an hour. That gets the moisture to steam out.

Do you bake the top before it is sanded to the right thickness or after?

I do them just when I am ready to join and brace so they are within .010 of final thickness
