Dots are totally simple to install, snow flakes and diamonds aren't that much harder. Good light and a pair of reading glasses or mild magnifiers are a good idea. If you are looking for sources of inlay material that is precut, PM me and I'll tell you where I buy mine. (edited to conform to the rules)

the letters that I use in my headstocks (see your 12 string thread) all come from him as did the dragonfly that I put in my daughter's guitar

One of the little tricks of inlay is that you don't have to have the cavity perfectly routed (you want it close however). When you insert the pearl make a mixture of epoxy and a little powered wood that is the same as your fretboard or headplate (ebony, rosewood) - that will fill any gaps around the inlay.

You can also buy standard Martin fretboards from John with their position markers already installed

Hey Freeman, nice to see you around again.
Have you been building?

Thanks Kevin. Yes, been building a fair amount - all scratch now. Haven't been here for a while (and just ran afoul of the forum rules). It was kind of ironic, happened to be reading a very old copy of Acoustic Guitar magazine (probably can't mention that either) and ran into an article by Bill Cory. Brought back some memories......
