Glad to hear it all cleaned up. (we love LVT too!)
Did the shellac do the trick for you in terms of preventing end grain seepage? That is what I had read and what I plan to do.
(I cannot seem to get the nitro lacquer here... I don't know if its a health and safety thing or environmental thing)

Great to hear Dave. It is usually not as bad as we think it is going to be, glad it turned out well for you.

The shellac did an ok but not near perfect job. I know, I know, people swear by it so take my experience with a grain of salt, but I did apply it correctly and still there was some seepage. Could be that Ken Cierp's suggestion is a better one; for sure I will try it next time I get up the nerve to try CA. Problem is, Titebond has always worked well for me, it takes another day but what the heck - while it is drying, I'm working on the neck or something so no time lost.

Dave, excellent. Glad you were able to get things sorted. I had used CA to glue down some frets and put blue tape around the frets with the idea of not getting ca on the wood. Sounds like what you had, but in miniature. Lotta razor scraping in that one.
Got any before and afters?

Bob - alas, I had no batteries for the camera.
But if you can imagine - I had used maybe 12 pieces of tape per side - I was using the stewmac binding tape - and each and every piece was essentially glued to the top with CA. Not one piece came off without leaving a lumpy residue of a CA/tape mixture. It was totally ugly.
It looks good now but I am worried about contamination I cannot see.
