Headstock Pearl Inlay
Well, I inlaid my first headstock (Guitars number 1 and 2 had no headstock inlay). I went back and watched John's Inlay videos to make sure i did the "magic marker" trick as directed. Sure enough, i think the headstock came out pretty good. I opted for an understated inlay ("GL" joined together). Perhaps I should have used white pearl instead of Paua...
Anyway, I am happy, I think it came out pretty good :-) Glenn

Very nice. Delicate work both on the cutting and routing side.

I didn't cut the pearl. I got the pearl done by Andy DePaule, and he cut to my design. I had to be real careful routing the channel. I used a .031" bit and it ended up being almost the exact size. So i had to be very careful of the lines. Next up today or tomorrow will be the same thing, only this time gold pearl into a Maccasar Ebony Headplate. I expect this to be alot more difficult cause the mac ebony has beautiful striping. Plus, I have to get a brown Sharpie :-).

Very nice! I like understated and that is not the easiest inlay to do on your first try.

Well done!
That is just one of the many parts of a build that intimidate me.

Wow, if you can do one that intricate, you should have no problems with any you do in the future, unless of course you try and inlay an abalone amoeba. :>)
