Pyramid Bridge

How thin can I go with a pyramid bridge? I have one w/ a chip out of the back corner. It might go away if thinned down. It's really thick looking. Measurement at the end of the wing is approx 0.190". Thickness at midpoint is .431".

you can reshape them pretty well. The area that you need to keep string is the slot area. In most cases a 1/16 will not cause too much issue

I forgot to mention the area of the chip is at the back edge of the bridge on the bass corner. If I can sand the bottom down to .08" on the wings, would that compromise the integrity of the bridge? I have a Guild who's wings are that thin & it doesn't seem to hinder it at all.

over .065 should be safe

Thx John, I took it down to .084" & it's all but disappeared. Come mounting time, when I take that small cut around the perimeter w/ the trimmer, there won't be any evidence of chip-out ...

You could also mix some sanding dust of the same wood with some CA and patch it. Sand it when dry, won't see it at all.
