Warped BRW back halves

Post by MKlee »

I just got a set of beautiful brazilian rosewood back and sides and the two halves of the back are warped - one fairly significantly. Will this cause problems or will the back bracing and center strip work out the warpage once everything is glued up?

At the least I assume I'll need to weight everything down when joining the two halves to keep it as flat as possible when it's glued. Anything else I need to consider? Is this a big problem?

often during shipping RH and thermal differences can get things moving a bit. You want to keep this weighted down and just before you glue up you can heat the plates , with an iron or weighted down in an over at 250 degrees for about 30 min
once the braces are glued your back will take the proper shape.
