You can do it without but use your eyes , and you can visualize the curvature. On the back , the tail block is just about square and the radius works around to the neck block..

Update: I glued the back on yesterday and just trimmed the back overhang and everything worked out great!
Wouldn't have come out so well without everyone's advice. Thanks again.
As a side note: If you ever find yourself in this situation, buy a sanding dish! Doing the measurements and trimming pre-bent sides with a coping saw was nerve racking to say the least. I have a few more white hairs to prove it!!

If you can't do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly.
