Had 2 weeks off at end of year and hit the shop hard. Got these bodies ready for binding.

00-db 3 piece back. Mahogany /eir
OM bass. EIR. Based off of John Hall’s bass project. 27.5” scale, 12 frets to body.

Backs and sides from Exotic Wood Zone
Adirondack tops on both from RC Tonewoods

Same here - spent much of the last two weeks in the shop making much progress. I need to put up some pics.

Your stuff looks great!

Regarding the bass:

If you haven't already done this, I think you would be wise to install a pickup of some sort, because I've not yet seen an acoustic bass that could be heard when more than a couple of other instruments are playing at the same time (with the exception of those gigantic ones used in Mariachi bands).

I've used the JJB pickups (passive piezo jobs) with some success. They're easy to install, being glued to the bridge plate near the pin holes. And they're even easier to install if the top is still off the body.

A link to the JJB web site:

I have no financial interest in the company, but have found Jesse to be helpful in his advice.

Agree on the JJB pickups. I used the Prestige-220 model in two ABGs I built. Worked great.

Thanks! I plan to put one in. I’ve installed similar k&k after body was done before so will do that. Box is closed.

Wasn’t sure if a bass would warrant an active pickup so thanks for sharing what you have used.

+1 on the JJB pickups. I've been installing them instead of K&K for folks.
