Nice job! I'll be attempting the feat today. The ZipFlex strip adds a bit of a complication because it's so flexible. Its flexibility is of course one of its great advantages as well, but it does mean that it can (and does) droop, and twist, and not stay nicely lined up with the other strips.

The neck dovetail joint is cut, not fitted yet
I cut the dovetail joint for the neck today. It still needs to be fitted so it's tight and aligned properly.

Truss rod adjustment wrench created
I didn't want to drill through the braces to get access to the truss rod adjustment, so I made this wrench. It works.

Now THAT is a wrench and a half! Nice innovation Steve. How deep is the "U" channel?

I think that zipflex turned out really nice. I may look into using it on my 00 build.

The wrench design is not original with me -- Carter has several of similar pattern that he's picked up from various sources to adjust different model guitars.
What "U" channel? The ledge for the ZipFlex is 0.050" deep, I think, and 0.030"+0.065"+0.030" wide for the B/W/B + ZipFlex + B/W/B. Then there's the outside rabbet 0.070" deep by 0.240" high for the binding. Or something like that.

Fingerboard glued on, fret installation started
I glued on the fingerboard with Titebond and started to install the frets. Because of the fingerboard binding, I have to trim back the fret tang at the ends of the frets. Carter has the special nippers to do that, but I forgot to borrow them when I saw him last. I may yet pick them up, but in the meantime I'm trimming the fret ends on the milling machine. A bit cumbersome, but it works.
Here's a shot of the first two frets installed. The ends need further cleanup.
[Edit: 9pm. All the frets are in. They all seated pretty well. Still need to finish the ends. I've started shaping the neck.]

I'm sorry; I should have been more precise. I meant the wrench adaptation, where the handle goes down; it forms a "u" to get around the transverse brace.MaineGeezer wrote:The wrench design is not original with me -- Carter has several of similar pattern that he's picked up from various sources to adjust different model guitars.
