Once the sides are cut I clear the channel using my 1/4" chisel (same as I use to profile my braces, I use this chisel a lot).

Then I glue the end wedge in place. Once the glue dries I'll cut that tail off the bottom.

Intersting that you ask that question Darryl. No, it is plastic and will have black plastic bindings. But note the pics below.

Here it is all trimmed up. Note the HP cut-offs, I plan on using them for end wedges, one will be on my next guitar (000,Sitka top, Honduran Hog B/S, ebony bindings. w/b purfling).

Gluing up the fret board. I have been using fish glue for the first time on this build and I'm still having trouble gauging how much is on the piece. I'm having a little more squeeze out than with the Titebond. Otherwise I like OK to work with.

Here I'm removing the indexing pins. I heat them up with my soldering unit and pull them out to be reused.

I like the black with the mahogany. I'm using african blackwood fretboard (and maybe bridge)on the cuban mahogany guitar I'm building now and it looks nice.

What will you use for purflings with the black plastic binding?

Sure enjoying this build!

This is a commission and the buyer only wants a single black binding top and bottom.
