Okay, the back and top are on. I am trimming the overhang by hand with chisel and small hand plane, just because I can I guess. Always used the router before, but this is more peaceful.
I'll get a pic up this week.

Hello Kevin
Do you prefer a wooden hand plane because of being more friendly to the wood surface/

Hello Kevin
I really loved the rosette you made great look ! I'd like to know is there a reason for the mahogany kerfing? Is it for the vibration lending itself to a low -mid -or high tone transfer point between the top, sides and bottom? Thanks

Finally got the top and back trimmed back tonight. The sides will need to now be sanded flat and true, and I need to make a new cradle before routing for bindings. My old one just isn't quite right.

I just got through reading your Blogs on the Dread you made last year and this recent one. Enjoyed both of them. I like your hands-on approach. Something to be said about utilizing your own methods to get the job done. Nice work & geeturs...! That flu sounds like an awful bugger. It's all behind you now...?

This is how I sand the sides of the box to get them level and flat.
It works!
I also glued up the scarf joint for the headstock on the neck. I also made a new cradle for the routing tower, my other one did not work out well and was non-conventional, this is more like what most people use.
I'm in the middle of making 4 knives so not much getting done on this or the crossover guitar right now.

Alright.........
I finally finished 3 of the 4 knives I've had orders for this past month. I got the shop cleaned up and put back in order for guitar building and I'm ready to get back to building this guitar. I've really missed working on it.
I should be able to finish the fourth knife this week and be back in the guitar shop by the weekend.
Here are some quick pics of the first 3 knives.

Re: A new one started today...another Drednaught
Productive weekend for my pace.
I bent the bindings, routed the body for top and back bindings a purflings, installed the end graft and glued in the back bindings.
The end graft is some of the wild Macacuaba that used for a guitar a couple of years ago. The bindings are bloodwood. No purflings on the back, but the top will have abalone with black lines. My binding machine works very well. It is heated with 3 light bulbs inside. You can see in one photo that it reached 329 degrees, plenty hot enough for bending. I bent the bloodwood bindings at .075" and they bent with no problem.
I glued them in on the back with superglue, taping, and sometimes clamping a section at a time, and weeping in the CA. This worked very well for this combination of rosewood and bloodwood. I would not do it with lighter woods. I had only one small area about 1/2" long with a slight gap that easily filled with rosewood sawdust and CA. No problem!
I hope to get the bindings on the top this week so I can begin inlaying the abalone purflings, but first I need to route the mortise for the neck, so that will be next.
