I especially appreciate the precise and eye pleasing placement of the rose inlay on the headstock.........

Thank you for the compliment. I have no woodworking experience, other than basic carpentry. I have refinished antique furniture, but I've never done anything remotely like this.

Thank you John. The inlay is a bit difficult with my Parkinson's, so the tolerances could be better, but I'm happy with it.

10/21/2014:

I guess it's official: It's definitely a guitar!

I got the rims together today, along with the kerfing and side struts. I also inlaid a wedge of curly maple on the end. Tomorrow (since it's after 1am, today), I plan on bracing the back, and hopefully, getting it on the rims.

Once again it's 1am.

I'm almost done bracing the back. I still want to smooth the braces a bit more. I had a hard time making the gobars cooperate; they didn't want to stay on the braces. I put carpeting on the top, but the little buggers simply didn't want to work for me. I took care of the situation with small pieces of folded sandpaper, to keep them in place, so that they wouldn't decapitate me.

I'm overwhelmed by the voicing of the Peruvian Walnut. I expected a bright sound; what I got is a rich, deep ring, with undertones that actually has some sustain. At first it sounded like a door, but after careful shaving and shaping, the complex tone is emerging.

I received my replacement Carpathian spruce today, from John Hall, for the top. I'll join the halves and get it thicknessed tomorrow.

I likewise have Parkinson's. You're doing well!

Personally, I was terrible at doing inlay even before I had PD, so I am doubly impressed by the nice job you did.

Thank you. I was diagnosed with early onset when 8 years ago, when I was 45. I'm very lucky that the meds work well for me.

Back bracing is complete. I decided on more of a parabolic shape. All braces are sanded to 500 grit. It helps to blog with photographs. I caught a couple of things that needed corrected after looking at the photos. The braces are 19mm high in the lower bout and 15mm high in the upper bout. The back has great voice and sustain.
