Amen to that. I try to remind her that her husband has some smarts too, but I don’t push it too often!
And you know there's a YouTube video of a guy in Mexico who builds a guitar only using a machete, right?

Rick, compliments on the realities of craftmanship. Perfection happens rarely, except to those who have failed often and learned from imperfection. Your report on the shell inlay experience and result was more valuable than any video of a perfect outcome. And how you dealt with the imperfections is in my bookmarks. Golf isn't the only game of recovery. My biggest fear is building a guitar with flaws from which I can't recover.

That's what I really value in this forum. Those more talented and experienced than me can learn from others who have made mistakes, or suffered mishaps, and found a solution.
