Looking good! as Chico used to say.
He probably sells them for $20,000. 🤣

Finished the outside edge of the sound hole surround.
Had to bevel the outside edge at an angle, fill the gap between inside and outside ebony bindings with some scrap wood and then put on a 0.03 inch thick ebony cap. Spent a lot of time feathering the cap piece into the existing ebony to hide the joints. As usual, took a lot of time working with a headband magnifier.
Happy that's done. Now on to the arm bezel. More fussy work.

Thanks. Not as bad as trying to build a violin but definitely a challenge for me.

Heck I purchased Robbie Obriens course on doing an arm bevel like 8 years ago and I'm still too chicken to try it.

Hey you know what I'm going to try it on #24 I have all the time in the world to mess it up. 🙃

I think I'll watch that course and see if I'm up to it.

You are doing GREAT!

Go for it. From what I’ve seen of your work you shouldn’t have a problem. Also… unlike many things associated with building a guitar, if you mess it up it’s not unrecoverable. You can usually just strip off the veneer and try again.

Installed the arm bezel today.
Another of many pucker moments building this guitar.
Used Ben's method of using 0.04 inch thick ebony tiles CA glued together and then filed/sanded/scraped down.
A few minor imperfections that need attention but overall happy with results.
Now on to scraping down the rest of the bindings on the front and then gluing in the rest of the binding and perfling on the back. Starting to see light at the end of the tunnel on the guitar body.

Joined this forum just to say, this is awesome! My goal is to build something similar, with a slightly different soundhole design. When I get the guts to get started this thread will be my bible!

Sometimes I miss threads here until someone replies then I'm like.... WOAH! This is one of those times. Wowie, what a project! It is an inspiration, and your work is super nice! That's a super brave design and master execution. Very nice.
