Well I did finish the spraying. I was able to do it all outside in my driveway....perfect weather, no booth needed.
I put on 12 coats. My pore fill job in the EIR back was a dud. I'd done it then later decided to run the RO sander over it just for fun. I was going to redo the pore filling but it sat for a month or so and I forgot. So it wasn't terrible, I could have stopped after the first seal coat and done it but decided to let the lacquer fill the rest. Takes a bit more lacquer but works.
I always say...." on the next one I'm going to do better" 🙃 now it hangs for about 3 weeks except tomorrow I'll remove the masking before the lacquer gets brittle and chips while pulling the tape.....been there done that.

Re: Starting a new Dred build
Okayyyyyyy
So I've finally got back to this guitar build after finishing the lacquer spraying back in February. I did my wet sanding a couple of months ago and now last Saturday I managed to get the buffing done.
So today I did glue on the bridge, installed the tuning machines (Gotohs), made the bone nut and saddle and fit the natural bone with abalone dot bridge pins. I still have a JJB Electronics passive piezo pickup to install.
The fret work is already done.
Hoping tomorrow to put on some strings and adjust the saddle height etc!!

Sure looks nice. Nothing beats letting the finish dry a good long time. Sounds like you’re close to hearing the guitar sing!

Re: Starting a new Dred build
Thanks Kev
Bridge is glued on, saddle is made, nut is made, tuners are installed. Just about ready for strings and I know I'll have a tiny bit of adjustment at the nut and most likely at saddle as the top always rises about a millimeter with the string tension. Then I have a JJB Electronics passive piezo pickup to install. I'll do that after the set up.
Oh and I have a simple pick guard to attach and a strap button for the neck heel too.
This guitar is going to India with my son in laws brother in September. He has two of my guitars already there and will use this one in his ministry work there.
