I don’t know if this question can be answered from the pictures I have, but I was hoping for some input.
I’ve almost finished the top bracing on my first guitar. I now need a bridge plate. I gather that rosewood & maple are common choices for wood. I have some maple from an old workbench (John Hall may recognize this wood from a bench he and I made.) I was thinking of manufacturing a bridge plate from this. Otherwise, I’ll buy some maple bridge plate stock.
Can people give me any input on this piece of maple?
While I’m at it, I can’t help but ask: What about oak as a bridge plate? (I have plenty of that.) I gather people don’t use it, but why not?
Thanks.
John
