Stewmac Nut Making Tool Set

Hi,
Hope this question is appropriate.
I'm in the process to build my first kit guitar. The bug has caught me already and I will build at least one or two more guitars (some flaws on my first build to be avoided :-)
I saw the Nut Making Tool set at Stewmac (
http://www.stewmac.com/Luthier_Tools/St ... l_Set.html). Is this a good investment or should I go with something else? Or is someone aware of a good European supplier, I live in Switzerland, to avoid high shipping charges?
Kind regards and thanks for your advise.
Michael

I get the idea that StewMac has somebody whose job it is to invent new tools and sets of tools for luthiers that StewMac can sell. Some of them are worthwhile, but some are of questionable need.
For nuts, I get by with a small three-corner file. While I hasten to add that using a 3-corner file is NOT the way to make a "proper" nut and I'd get better results with a set of nut files, it is possible to create a nut that works with very limited tools. If you're just starting and have limited funds, you may want to forego the nut files until you have bought chisels, planes, and other more basic and essential items.
Understand that I've built only two guitars; John has built hundreds. If he disagrees with my assessment of the need for nut files, believe him and not me. <grin>

What do you use the pillar file for? Rounding the nut?

I have the rods that go to this coping saw. The rods work quite well, but you don't need the coping handle. They're stainless steel and are quite rigid. They make nice, smooth slots.
