My first kit will be a 000 14 fret to the body from John. I'm wondering how a 000 14 fret to the body differs from an OM? For my second kit I'd like to build a 000 12 fret to the body since the body shape seems to be different. I've Googled until I'm blue in the face about 000 vs OM and get all kinds of mixed information. I've watched YouTube videos demonstrating the sound differences between the two and there is definitely a difference. Any insight between the two would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a Martin video explaining the difference:

And here is a comparison of my home made 12 fret 000 and my Martin 14 fret 000:

The only real difference is the upper bout is squashed to make room for 14 frets. On this one, I made the 12 fretter extra deep.

Re: 000 vs OM
As a capital B - Beginner, I will wade in here because I have asked this question myself. A lot seems to be semantics, coloured with a certain amount of branding. I am building two 12 - fret guitars with short scales, but on the OM-type body plan found in the book by Jonathan Kinkead. Since what I want is something like the Martin "Norman Blake" model, I am calling mine the "Norman Kinkead". I have made a start on my guitars, and because there has been a little interest in the idea, I will start to post progress to the "Blog Your Project" section. Progress has been a little slow, and I don't want to bore people with every agonizing detail, but I'll post something soon. I hope you'll share your thoughts and plans too.
