Rosewood Strips

I'm building a Martin D41 style guitar and I have (2) 6 3/4" X 3/4" rosewood strips in the kit and I'm not sure what they're supposed to be used for. Their purpose is not clear in the supply list or the construction guide I'm using. I don't think they're for the tail wedge, because that's in the kit and it's white plastic. Anybody know what those strips are supposed to be used for?

these are used between the kerfed lining for side support in case you bump it so you don;t run a split the length of the guitar . In older Martins pre mid 80's they used a cloth ribbon

Thanks John! That makes sense. Actually, I took Bill Cory's advise in the construction guide and used popsicle sticks for side supports. The rosewood strips would've blended in better, color-wise, but I think either approach will provide side support. I'll just keep these 2 strips as surplus.
