Being new to building guitars ( I have 3 in the works) I am always seeing this tool or this jig advertised. Being a woodworker and Custom Fountain Pen maker for years I know alot of the "stuff" for sale is just that..stuff that clutters and only gets used once.

Is there a list of tried and true tools that a person should buy,.. which files, which tape, which jig you cant live without, ect...

If not...what is your cant live without top 5?

Proper files for slotting nuts and a reamer for bridge pin holes are the first two that come to mind.

As you know Jason , I like the mold to help keep the sides and neck block in position. Also the disks to get the geometry correct. As Brian points out , nut making tools and tapers are also handy. My file collection is
mill 2nd cut smooth
pillar file
diamond crowning file ( leaves less chatter marks )
good straight edge
