Pine soundboard?

Has anyone tried a pine soundboard? Thinking a guitar made out of local woods might be cool, and was wondering about reclaimed old growth longleaf.

Pine has been used. It won't sound like spruce but it will still sound like a guitar. I assume white pine.

May be a bit hard and stiff for a sounboard. Could see it as a back and side set, now that would be different.

I wonder what "Q" value pine has? Anyone tap any?

I don't think pine would bend well for sides. The "evergreen" type woods like to wrinkle more than bend (Usually the result in bending linings for violins).

I know someone who used Poplar and built a very nice loud guitar according to him. Anyone else use it ?
