I assembled the rim last year and put it aside. Now I'm getting back on it. Last year I had it in the mold but took it out to glue the kerfing. Anyway, it's been stored for a year with just the tail block, neck block and kerfed linings installed. Now, when I just tried to put it back into the mold, it doesn't fit. seems like it is too large by about a 1/4". I'm using John's mold that only has a spreader at the waist. Should I build a spreader for the lower bout in case that's where I'm loosing some room? Should I take the neck block out and shorten the sides a little? Our can I wet it to soften the wood maybe?

Probably should have left it in the mold but I didn't know it would take a year to get started back. Not sure what the best thing to do is?

You can make it refit the mold
When this happens you can wet it and put it in the mold if you can set the mold on the side so it is up in the air and put some weight on it . This may take a few days but dampen it once a day and when you can attach the clamp slowly work it close. If it fit before it will fit again.
Next time keep it in the mold that is the best place for it. I would say in 3 to 5 days you will be back in the mold.
