Rosette install

I am starting to install my fiber rosette. The outside rings are singles and no big deal, but the multi-layer middle ring is giving me fits. All of my instructional material already has the rosette installed, but this is not done in my kit. I've tried to install it a few rings at a time, and I can see that won't work, but I can't seem to get it all crammed in at once with out something flexing out of the channel. I'm wondering if I have one ring too many? I alternated B/W/B/W/thick black/W/B/W/B-correct?

This should be a no brainer . I start with cutting the one end with a miter cut so the other end can have a matching miter from the other side. All go in at one time and if it is too tight you can pull a matching pair of the rosette on sandpaper to thin it so you fit. I also work with the the material so that the middle piece is help above to work in.
Do not use wood glue. I suggest to use Duco or weldwood. It won't add water and swell the material.

That's me-no brains. I ended up taking one thin black strip out, so it has double white next to the thicker black, and at that I had to tap in in gently with a tack hammer to seat it. Tight fit! If I could get the @#$% box together, I'd be more in my element. Probably lose an eye trying to master the go-bar deck.
