He did the finish on my first two guitars and they are both spectacular examples of catalyzed polyurethane.

Well, I just made a very nice mandolin with a back that was about 2.5 mm thick (about 0.101"). If you decide you don't want that piece, I can give it a good home...bnjp wrote:[ I just didn't know what the optimal thickness should be and whether I would have enough left after sanding.

Wouldn't have minded keeping it for another purpose, but they asked for it back.
