Hey, don't leave me out! I live in Glen Burnie and would love to see how others who are new to guitar building do things. Cost is definitely a big factor in this hobby. I've found ways to avoid spending money on tools so that I can spend it building.

Of course not. I am so glad to see more than one builder from Maryland. I am near done buying supplies for the moment. I just need to get some cam clamps so I can start gluing the neck and tail blocks. Harbor Freight has them for about $10 a piece. I am waiting to get the router until I have the body assembled.

By the way, just fired up the new dehumidifier. In less than 3 minutes, it had the RH level in my basement below 50%. Amazing.

I get these from harbor freight. They work quite well for $4.00 a piece. I usually throw one or two of them in the basket when I go. You never seem to have enough.

I hate to admit it but I have about 100 of them. They are often on sale for $2.99 I stock up on them at that price.

Let's get together - we could do it my shop if Chestertown or one of yours in Glen Burnie. I would love to talk guitars. Any one else is welcome too.

If you do a search on youtube you'll come up with lots of hits on how to make your own cam clamps. Google also.

BTW, in a concrete/block basement the RH is much higher as you get closer to the floor and exterior walls.
Obviously, proximity to either would not be the optimal choice for storing wood.

Sounds like a good time. Chestertown is fine, especially since my shop doesn't fit much more than one person at a time.

John, do you use any of the ratchet clamps, or just the bar clamps? Just wondering if they can be used for anything. Getting ready to clamp the tail and neck blocks.
