Removing un-hardened epoxy

It turned out I didn't need to do this after all (the epoxy did set up, eventually) but at one point I was convinced I'd mixed incorrect proportions and I was going to have a neck slathered with semi-gooey, sticky epoxy that I would have to "somehow" clean off so I could do it right.

Does anybody know how to clean off semi-set-up perpetually gooey epoxy? Is there any solvent that will touch it in that state? When it's fully hardened epoxy is pretty much non-anything, but I'm wondering if there any way to deal with it in a not-fully-hardened state.

chisel and scrape. I know heat can soften it.but may be more heat that the wood may take.

Acetone cleans up epoxy squeeze-out, so I think it would probably work on un-cured and gooey stuff too.

High quality avaiation stripper eats dried epoxy so partially set epoxy should be no challenge for the stuff. Look for something that conytains Methylene-chloride and toluene.

Make sure to wear protective gear! This stuff burns exposed skin like acid.....
