Hello,
Given that I'm a novice woodworker without a router table, should I drop the idea of embedding a carbon fiber neck reinforcement in my very first attempt to build a classical kit? I ordered a 1/4" x 3/8" piece along with the kit, but it was only $11, and I could easily be talked out of using it.
Elsewhere I've read a maker say that he epoxies them in. Does that sound right? Would you want to use enough epoxy to fill the gaps in the channel, and would you want to fill it up flush with the top of the neck?
Best,
Greg

I do not think you need it with nylon strings and you will not have a better guitar with it. If properly installed it will not do any harm. I think it just complicates your build process. I would add a truss rod before I added a carbon fiber rod to a classical.
If you do install it use epoxy. Make sure that the rod is not higher than the fret board face of the neck as the stuff is nasty to sand and really bad on edge tools.

Thanks. The very first classical guitar I ever had developed a backbow, and it scarred me for life ;) Anyhow, I'm easily talked out of using the neck bar.
