Thanks again for all your help on this Brian

I don't have a block plane so I sanded the bridge down a bit making sure I didnt go below 3/8th

I also sanded a little from the saddle bottom. I didn't deepen the slot just yet as I'm waiting for a special file for that to come from stewmac

The action is a little lower and is better now

I still have a gap of 1/8 between top of fret and bottom of low e string on 12th
Theres a gap of 1/16th at first fret

With a capo on first fret and finger the 13th I can slide the 0.20 mm guage under the 7th---thats in mm

I had buzzing after lowering the saddle and re levelled and crowned the frets again

So thats where i'm at

I notice now that the intonation is a little Flat at the 12th with my tuner ? Very slightly flat

The guitar is definately playing better now

How do those measurements stack up do you think or should I leave well enough alone for now considering I have the truss rod very tight. That still bothers me but I guess I will just have to live with it

I'll say again, 1/16" (.0626") gap at the first fret is high and unless there is a reason you want it that high it should be closer to .025". That will help lower the action as well as make the guitar easier to fret on those upper frets. You should check the height of ALL your strings over the first fret.

Understood !! In that case I am going to end up with a nice action as its pretty near what I want at the 12th so I guess if I lower the nut slots slightly I will improve on the overall set up.

You guys have been wonderful and thanks again to yourself ,and John and Brian Howard who talked me through my dilemma. For beginners like me its not so much the "Not Knowing" about the procedure as it is the Fear of doing it wrong and thats why its so helpful to have experts like yourselves who will give us the encouragement to carry on
Onwards and upwards !!
