Instant bandsaw zero throat

Post by Bob Gleason »

An instant zero throat for cutting small parts. Pay attention to the magnets. Big ones like these are extremely strong and can jump quite a distance, as well as pinch fingers very hard. 1 1/2" magnets and 1/8" plywood. I leave the ply and magnets on the side of the saw for easy access.

That's cheating. It's too easy.

I have a more sophisticated version for cutting binding and kerfing on the tablesaw. 3/4" ply with the magnets epoxied into recesses on the bottom. I love magnets. Lots of cool uses.-Bob

I use magnetized sheets for displaying photos stuck to a refrigerator, or advertising that is like a magnetic business card. The photo display sheets can be up to 8"x11" in size and can be cut with scissors.

While we're on the subject of magnets, I've found the Magswitch units to be very useful, even though they're not necessarily the cheapest solution. This jig uses them to clamp to the table of a horizontal belt sander to put 16" and 10" radiuses into various parts. They make setup very quick.
