I bought the Blues Creek universal bender, along with several shoes from John Hall, back in March. I've been out of commission for a couple of months, but I'm getting back into action.

I finally used the bender for the first time. I paired it with the thermostat and blanket from LMI. I bent a set of mahogany.

It's a very nice bender.

Diane- I used the original Blue's Creek bender for years and then copied it to make a new one with a few modifications. It worked great as it originally came, but I can never leave well enough alone! The handles/clamp cauls on the one you have look interesting. Looks there are 3 dowels on the handle/clamp cauls. Are any of those free rolling or are they all stationary? I also used a router speed controller for 20 years on the blanket, which worked fine. Recently I got that LMI controller and its terrific. Love it. - Bob

They are 7/8 in dowels
they don't roll but you can put a sleeve on them to do that with PVC pipe.
I have one that is wore that rolls I don't think it makes much difference
I think them not roll helps as I do like you Bob , lower upper and then waist the no roll keeps the stack from moving and lets the sides bend under a bit of tension

O.K. John thanks. Guess I'll have to make some handles. I have some aluminum rod, and I'm thinking maybe aluminum against the mold and wood dowels to use as the handle. It's so cool to keep improving things. Keeps us young!
