That's really nice. Wish I knew how to engineer the stuff I see on this site. Are planning on keeping record of the optimal bending temps by wood species? I wish I had a thermocouple on my bender.

I've got a Fluke multimeter that accepts a thermocouple. At the time I bought the meter I didn't have any particular idea I'd ever use the thermocouple, but it has proven useful. I measure the temperature of my hot hide glue with it, and I checked the side bending temperature when I bent the guitar sides.

There are probably cheaper ways to get a thermocouple than buying a Fluke multimeter, but if you have need of a meter anyway it's a nice option to look for.

Egad, how elegant! Was that your own idea, using a blanket in that way? And, If I may ask, what was your cost for setting up such a thing?

Cost was in total about $60 or so. The blanket was $35 on eBay and the copper was something I had from a previous project. You could use aluminum as well.

Very nice and neat looking. John, if I may ask, what is the pipe made of?

thanks,

Dan

The pipe is aluminum. 2-7/8" od. 12" long. Purchased online.

The bender using the blank is not my idea, it came from Ken Cierp. Here is the link to the original post:http://acousticguitarconstructionforum. ... ?f=8&t=794
