A note on other voltages for UK and other based luthiers.

Buying in electrical equipment from abroad can be a bit daunting if the voltage differs, eg 240v in the UK and 110v in the US. Luckily voltage step down/up converters are freely available. The main thing to watch out for is the wattage. In the UK building site electric is often stepped down from 240v to 110 by a big yellow box. These are capable of powering just about anything and are quite reasonable to buy. I recently bought a 1500 watt step down converter to run my side bender blanket. It wasn't cheap, but it gives me the option to buy in electrical equipment from abroad at what is often a much lower cost and use it safely, for example an electrical pipe bender from China can come in very cheaply at 110v, even with postage.
