Side bending machine slats

I bought drawing to build a side bending machine. I know I don't need one for the kit I ordered, but bending my own wood is on my list in the future. The drawings call for 2 spring steel sheet, 30 gauge 6" x 36". Shows they are available from Blues Creek, but the only ones I can find are only 6" x 34". I must not be looking in the right place.

Datrek...I built my bending machine about 5 months ago and it's
really an awesome skill to acquire. Anyway, I would recommend
using Aluminum slats instead. Aluminum won't stain the wood
you're bending and it's a better conductor of heat. I got a roll
of aluminum at Home depot and cut them to the length I wanted.
They came 6" wide....
Hope that helps....

I use a stainless slat on the bottom to help provide support, and an aluminum slat from HD on the top. The stainless springs back enough to be able to keep using over. It's also nice to have if your forms are not solid.

34" is plenty long enough, get those from Blues Creek. John will have other supplies you may need too.

Datrek and kyle,
What's the thickness of the aluminum slat?

36 is too long and 34 is actually about 3 1/2 inch longer than what any normal steel string will need

says .012" x 6" x 36" apparently 30 gauge is .012" 36" is too long according to the experts so I will just go with the 34".
