Any Dremel users on line. I have the option of purchasing a cordless Dremel and was wondering how this would perform as compared to a plug in type ?. Its a genuine Dremel make.
Do all the different Dremel Models fit the dremel base supplied by stew mac ?
Any info appreciated
Thanks
Rusty

I have a very old corded variable speed Dremel, I think it is mdl 380.
I use it with the current circle cutting jig and plunge router base that Dremel is selling now, and it fits both of those. I don't know about what Stewmac has.
I do use the Dremel for routing in for my rosettes and cutting out the sound hole and it works great for this. Some who have used it state it is not precise enough. I have found that with a small bit it is quite adequate.

I have both a new corded and a new cordless. My cordless doesn't have much power and shuts itself down very frequently. The corded has a lot of oomph, so is what I regularly use.

I would check with Stewmac to see if the model is compatible. A couple of years ago I bought a Dremel drill press and the Dremel I had didn't fit it. Dremel had to send me a new tool holder for the press for my model. Better to be safe than sorry. :-)
