Hi All,
No #7 guitar build started yet, but soon!
I did finish my disc sander this weekend. A one hp 1750 rpm motor, a 12" disc made for the Shop Smith, some scrap plywood and a piece of MDF, some bolts, nuts, washers and lag bolts and you have a sander!
I was trying to figure out a good way to make the tilting table and came across an article in a year old Popular Woodworking magazine that had some basic plans to make one that mounts on a lathe. I adapted that concept for mine. Lots of sanding area compared to the little 6" disc sander I've been using. Can't wait to put some angles on a heel and end block.
Here are a few pics.

Good stuff. I envy you guys who can pick up some scraps and turn them into a usable tool.

I'm thinking how I might make a shroud to go over the disc...that is a scary area. I'm thinking I could cut a ring from a 5 gallon plastic pail and go over the top from both sides...I'll think on that somemore!!!

I plan on using it for anything that needs some heavy stock removal....hopefully not my fingers.

I'm a bit jealous of you guys who have the talent to make something like this.I never did woodwork until I got interested in Kit guitars and I doubt if I would have enough skill to do this. But well Done to you !!
