Does anyone have any comments/recommendations on a router/laminate trimmer for cutting bindings?

It will not be used in a tower set up.

Thanks guys

There are many good laminate trim routers out there . For binding this can be difficult at the back radius will throw the router bit and make the binding appear thin around the upper bouts , On the top , it isn't that big a deal. I can say the rigid , Bosche Colt , Poter Cable , any of the normal brands should do the job for you . Avoid Harbor freight . Quality is too spotty there.
Good luck .
Thanks for joining and hope you have a good time here

Fine Woodworking did a comparison of trim routers last summer. They picked the DeWalt 611PK as best overall with the Ridgid R2401 and the Grizzly H7791 as Best Buys. The Porter Cable and Bosch entries tested well too but the author liked better visibility of the DeWalt with a clear base and LED light.

I picked up the Dewalt (combo version) at Amazon (plus a mail-in rebate) for about half of the $200 list price. It is really nice.

Thanks Ken

As they say, "you get what you pay for". I will have too much invested to chance it on something a little cheaper. Although, any equipment can have a failure.

I have the Bosch Colt married to the KMG IA binding attachment.

As an update.

I got the Ridgid 2401 model off of ebay. New in the box for $63.00.

Routers have gotten a lot better since my last one. A Sear's Crafstman. It sounded like an jet airplane when you switched it on.

The Ridgid is much quieter and the variable speed function is smooth. It even lights up the base at the bit.

Probably will never use the old one unless I need to use a router table.

Thanks for your input all.
