I find this to be a handy tool for the lower bout wedge, thicknessing the end of the braces, cutting the notch in the sides when fitting the top and back and cutting the back reinforcing strip for the braces

It can also be used for taking a scoche (or is it scosh?) off the neck tenon to loosen it up just a bit.
I've seen them used for the Gibson style inlays. You can sharpen an old allen wrench to make a different blade for it.

I use that little shoulder plane a LOT. A good little tool.
