The guts from a drill motor with dead ni-cads was turned into a linear drive



Old PC 12 volt power supply

Dryer blower assembly converted into a vacuum


PC chassis fan used as down dratf blower


Wiring is simple a "normally open" momentary switch and a reversing switch are needed --- details will appear in my hard copy publication.

That looks like fun, I have about three drills with dead batteries. How well do the drills bearing hold up with the lateral load? Also the neck carving jig looks great as well; I need to make myself one.

I've used drill motors to spin these bladder sanders, rotor rasps, drums etc. for years -- honestly, never gave bearing life a thought -- if it were to fail I'd just replace it.

I do the same as Ken,just use a drill. They work very effectively, especially in the heel area. Mario Proulx uses a Lancelot. It's a chain saw wheel that to me looks as scarry as all get out,but works for him. As an aside Mario has an excellant build picture blog on his site. Well worth a look.
