Sharpening Day!

I needed to sharpen my chisels today and while I was at it figured I might as well do my hand planes as well. Most of them needed it.

I still have two #6 planes and 5 or 6 block planes to sharpen.
You'll notice I LIKE hand planes. I've had many more that I passed along. At one point I had over 70.

These are all old planes. a few well over 100 years old, and still shaving wood. Most are Stanley's and Miller's Falls.

I have a few other block planes that are simple models like Stanley 101.

On a shelf I have 12 more waiting to be made useful again.
Stanley's, Fultons, Worths.

Are those little guys good for brace carving? I struggle with tapering them.

Yes that's what I use the small wooden plane you see there. I made a few of them years ago. I also have small brass planes that work well. You can get them pretty inexpensive on Amazon, great for carving braces
