Fleshman binding jig

I decided to build this on John's recommendation. He said he tried them all and this was the best. Good enough for me.

I've only begun making the levelers and what a PITA it was cutting all those slots. I used hard maple and immediately wished I used pine or plywood. Oh well, the hard part is done, now for the adjustable pieces. I'm waiting on screws and thumbwheels.

I have a lot of pine boards I plan on using for the rest of the build. Ply would be better maybe, but I have all these boards I don't want to go to waste. I think they'll be fine. I think, I can make most of this for free.

I really liked mine when I had one that I got from John, As more tools filled my shop space, I had to let go of it because i just did not have room for it. I went back to the sliding tower that the old LMI sold. The Fleishman worked better, but I just ran out of room for it. I have had several of the tower style jigs, and they actually work pretty good once you figure out a system for using them. Harry Fleischman said he could bind a guitar blind folded with his invention. I don't think I would try that!

Make those levelers with three pieces of wood glued together. The two outside ones full length and the inside is actually 2 smaller pieces glued at each end leaving the slot in the middle. That way you can make the slot as wide as you want. For 1/4-20 bolts I made my slot 5/16 for easy maneuvering!
