Quick question for John. I want to build a mold holder like he uses when radiusing the top and bottom of the sides. I can get the 6" nipple and base and 1/2" dowels etc. What I don't know is where to position the nipple/base. This location is obviously critical since it determines the center of the dome.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Mold Holder /Side Radiusing
I don't know if this is the "correct" answer, but the center of my "dome" is pretty close to the center of the guitar. that is mid-line vertically and mid-way horizontally. I honestly don't pay that very close attention to it, but it comes from when I use the big sanding disks, that's where I place my pins in my mold to hold it down under the disks. I place my mold down about center under those disks. This generally gives me a good starting neck angle where the bridge sits just on the other side of the peak of the dome from the neck side.
Really, the sanding discs are just to get a nice radius angle on the rim so the top glues on nicely. The important part is that when you set the neck, you want the level of the neck to intersect just about 1/8 over the guitar body ( without fretboard attached) and ideally without needing any sort of wedge under the fretboard extension.
