I am a new builder getting close to doing the fretboard on a tenor ukulele. I will probably build a couple more after this but plan to move toward building a couple of guitars. I know there are specific tools I'll need for fret installation and etc. Does anyone have a list of these?
Thank you,
Chuck B

I use a few files for this
flat file ( Pillar file)
Mill file
crowning file
tape off the fret board
800 1500 2000 sand paper
end nipper to cut the fret wire

In addition to John's list perhaps a three square and a diamond file. Diamond is not a necessity, but cuts effectively, esp. on stainless frets, if you were to go that route. I would also propose a fretwire bender for your later guitar work with curved FBs. I use one and believe it helps frets lay in without 'cow-licking'. A 1967 Mark III MG Midget lead wheel hammer can be a useful tool to convince the frets to get seated without a fuss. :-) And I agree with John a high quality nipper is a must.

Re: Specialized tools for fretwork?
that is correct from Dan8 diamond files are better than the standard files on crowning much less chatter and better finishing.
