Why don't you see much detail trim on acoustic guitars by using paint? For example painting a design on the head stock. Just curious what the opinions are ??

it depends on what the customer wants. Often painted headstocks were on lower end instruments. Although Peter Cree and Tracey Cox sometimes paint guitars and do well. I think it comes down to the artistic skill and execution of the work.

I'd never do it simply because I appreciate the natural beauty of the wood more than anything. Almost always, I prefer less appointed guitars. Just my two cents.

I'm working on a collaboration with my brother-in-law who is an accomplished artist to do one with me. If it comes to fruition I'll let you know. You can seea sample of his work at:

I have seen guitars that have had pin striping done on them.
