Sitka Spruce ?

Post by wildbill »

Howdy again everyone, I am looking for your advice and wisdom on Sitka Spruce. I am getting ready to start my first build and wondering what spruce to use for the top. I am going to build a Jumbo based on a 17 inch benedetto shape with Bubinga back and sides, body specs.....
Length 20 3/4
upper 12 3/4
waist 10 1/2
lower 17
body depth 5"

Thanks in advance
Bill

A guitar that large will have a good air volume but you may want to consider thinning it a bit. Unless you are a large man , it may feel uncomfortable.

Thanks for the advice John, I,m thinking that it would be better to taper 3 3/4 to 4 3/4......what ya think about that ?

Thanks again
