Just wondering if anyone has had the experience of discovering tiny holes in mahogany guitar wood. I bought a length of mahogony from a Luthier hoping to build a neck for an acoustic project that I'm working on, but when I put it through my thickness sander and got it all cleaned up I notice tiny pin prick holes here and there that are similar to woodworm holes. I am really hoping its something else and not woodworm as its a nice chunk of wood. Is it possible that mahogony sometimes has holes like this or how would I know for sure if its woodworm

filler usually covers it up

Could be powder post beetle. Check your wood stash to be sure there is no infestation.

If it was me in your shoes, I'd return the wood for a refund.

Just saw a little critter climb out and make its way across the table !! Its a mahogony neck blank I am working on. Just wondering if I seal the little pin holes--about 20 of them-- will there be more of them and will they eventually create more pin holes. Would epoxy or some filler kill them off ? Dont want to go any further until I'm sure .
I have the neck shaped and dont want to have to start again if possible.

Iirc, heating the wood, in an oven for example, is an acceptable treatment. See this link for example
