Thickness for padouk sides?

After buiulding an electric again, now I'm about to start with a Jumbo. It gets Padouk back and sides. Some say it is not easy to bend. Should I make them a bit thinner than usual (2mm/ 0.80")?

Thanks
Herman

I take padauk down to about .080 in thick.
Padauk likes lots of heat and water so use some wet paper with the wood and start bending at 275 while keeping it well damp.
Once the wood conforms to the pattern, raise heat to 375 and hold for a minute. Then set heat at 225 - 250 for 10 minutes.

Yesterdya I took the sides down to 0.80" and bended them. I succeeded, but it was not that easy. The wood is crossgrained and very springy. Had a few chippings on the inside of the waist due to some runout, which I fixed with CA glue. All ok, but it is not a wood for a first time builder. The padouk is very promising and has an extreme vitrious ringing taptone. Cannot wait.
Merry Christmas to all.

I have found Padauk likes a lot of heat. I also started to use Super Soft2 with this.

I don't know this stuff. Is it helping a bit or does it have a major effect?

The super soft helps a great deal to get tough wood to bend.
