Has anyone here used it? Or know anything about it? I can't find anything here on the forum and I can't find much elsewhere...some of it is very pretty but what of the sound?

Thanks, Ray (:>)8>

it is a noted tone wood and one worth using.

I think it is a beautiful wood, and have ready access too it, just haven't tried it yet. I have to get through the batch of wood I already have, but I agree....one worth using. Did I not hear about some potential glue-up issues with this being oily, or am I getting it confused with some other woods?

Ken, I think it's Cocobolo you're talking about...I know it does have such a problem. Some say you should use a FGSMI All wood epoxy or an FG wood glue and wipe the wood down with acetone and glue up as soon as the acetone evaporates. Others say Titebond is just fine if it cleaned with acetone...like other things, if you ask two you'll get three different answers.

:)

I have only use Bocote for knife handles, but it is a dream to work, and is beautiful.
No glueing issues that I've ever seen. I'd love to build with it, in most cases, it would make a wild looking guitar as much of it has little birdseyes and striking yellow and black grain lines.
Go for it, never seen any forumites here using it.

Kevin
